The volunteer Alumni Reunion organizers want to first and foremost thank all of the attendees
for not only not being assholes, but in fact, for going above and beyond to help make this an
incredible event.
We would also like to thank all of the dining hall staff for their excellent job of feeding
everyone, as well as the physical plant and security staff for keeping everything else running
smoothly.
Approximately 800 people came, making this one of the largest events ever on the campus.
No serious issues occurred during the entire weekend. It was full of friendship, joy, remembrances,
and sadness, and was a clearly-needed event for all who attended.
We couldn't have pulled this off without the cooperation and assistance from all of you. THANK YOU.
While everyone recovers from the weekend, the organizers are continuing to meet to figure out what
happens next. One of the first things is to figure out how to create a new Alumni Association.
As we do, this page will continue to be updated with the latest information.
Here is the post-Reunion FAQ.
Q: How do I submit questions not answered here?
Q: How do I add alumni-relevant info here?
A: Email your questions or info to questions@simons-rock-reunion.info.
Q: Does the original Reunion FAQ still exist?
A: Yes. It is here.
Q: Can I visit campus before campus closes?
A: Yes! You are welcome to visit campus for a non-overnight visit. Please contact Tom Esch,
Institutional Advancement, (413) 644-4776 or email
tesch@simons-rock.edu to arrange a visit. Please note that various buildings
and places may be unavailable when you visit due to other groups and organizations renting parts of campus for summer use.
Q: How do I get around Great Barrington?
A: This might help.
Q: Where can I stay off campus?
A: This might help.
Q: Where can I eat off campus?
A: You may want to try any of the many restaurants in the area.
Q: What happened with the event photographer?
A: The campus photographer, Tricia McCormack, took a ton of photos at various locations throughout the day.
They are really quite good. Alumni can view and purchase photos
here.
Q: Where can I get Simon's Rock merchandise?
A: Sanctioned, but unofficial merchandise is available at Unofficial Swag Store.
This store will continue to be open for the foreseeable future. There is something there for everyone!
Q: Will I be able to take a piece of Simon's Rock history with me at the end of Reunion Weekend?
A: We are looking into auctions/fundraising activities to help raise money for affected staff, Early College scholarships in the Bard network,
and long-term hosting of the simons-rock.edu website as an alumni network. We will provide details soon.
Q: Will the simons-rock.edu domain persist?
A: Yes. Our plan is to continue working with the College on behalf of the Alumni body.
We will share details broadly as we get more information.
Q: What is this reflector I hear about from time to time?
A: We're glad you asked! The reflector is an email service where anyone subscribed can send an email, and everyone subscribed
will get a copy. It has been around for over 30 years (!), more than half the age of the school! It is usually pretty low-bandwidth
but occasionally someone will spark a conversation, as Alumni are wont to do. To subscribe, send an email to
rockers-subscribe@med.stanford.edu.
Many, many thanks go to Glenn Peacock W'84 for tirelessly maintaining this vital resource.
Q: Where else do Alumni gather online?
A: Lots of places! Here are a few.
